EXP Con Year 6 – November 9th-11th, 2018 – St. Augustine, Florida

Programming at EXP Con 2018

Industry-related programming will take place throughout the weekend, across the entire convention center. Our organization produces various types of programming that occur simultaneously, so there is always something happening of interest for the attendees. 

Schedule of Events are below:

Friday (12PM-10PM) Convention Registration

– EXP Con opens up to attendees Noon on Friday. Weekend-long and Single Day badges will be available for sale. Separate lines will be set up for attendees who pre-registered or took advantage of the Hotel Early Bird Free Pass Promotion.

Friday (12PM-2AM) Video Game Lounge

– A popular aspect of EXP Con is the signature Video Game Lounge. Come to compete in our tournaments, watch the competition unfold, or play casually with other convention attendees.

Friday (12PM-8PM) Artist Alley

– Traditionally at fan conventions artists are able to purchase a space to promote, display, and sell their works. EXP Con will have such a place that will be open not only artists, but fans and groups who wish to promote their clubs, groups, or events.

Friday (2PM-8PM) Vendor Room

– EXP Con 2018 will have a vendor room filled with shops selling merchandise related to video games, Japanese animation, comics, cosplay, and other facets of Japanese and American pop-culture.

Friday [P] (2:30PM-3:30PM) Ryan’s Lunar Panel

– Through times of peace, war, chaos, and battle, the Blue Star loomed as the only constant in the new world. Thousands of years passed, burying the origin and purpose of the Blue Star in the sands of time. Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete is the Origin story of EXP Con. – Presented by Ryan.

Friday [P] (4PM-5PM) Love Nikki Fan Meet-up

– The dress-up game to rule them all — Love Nikki is insanely popular, addicting, and fun to play with friends (even if you don’t want to admit it). Veterans and newbies can meet up at this panel to discuss Love Nikki tips and tricks! – Presented by Madeline and Jade

Friday – [ME] (5PM-6PM) Opening Ceremonies

– Opening Ceremonies for the convention sets the tone for the entire weekend, so you can expect EXP Con is going to bring our excitement-causing shoes. We will talk about what you can expect from the weekend, introduce our industry guests, and entertain you with our own brand of Opening Ceremonies hype.

Friday [P] (5:30PM-7:30PM) Werewolf

– One minute you’re a Villager, defending your theoretical home with every fiber of your being. The next, you’re a Werewolf, framing your friends and accusing them of wanting to destroy your village, when really it’s you who’s been infiltrating it all along. Each game becomes an epic phenomenon, designed to test your personal judgement and moral character. – Presented by Heather Richardson

Friday [ME] (6PM-8PM) Autograph Session #1

– Each year at EXP Con we invite members of video game, anime, and other related industries to take part in our weekend-long event. Convention attendees may meet these celebrities and bring one item to be signed free of charge, as long as they have the appropriate single-day pass or weekend pass. Any additional items are subject to individual rates as set by the industry guests. Please note that once the session is over, those still in line will be turned away. There will be 3 of these sessions throughout the weekend!

Friday [P] (8PM-9PM) Real-life Cosplay Heroes

– Cosplayers can make a positive impact in their community — and you can too! Learn how to get started, work with other groups and organizations, what to do and what NOT to do, and promote kid-friendly cosplay and attitudes! – Presented by Suit Up For Kids

Friday – [ME] (9PM-10:30PM) EXP VIP Soirée

– Exclusive VIP-Only Event! There’s free food and drink at this fancy party. A big thank you to our Level 99’s and a way to get to know the people who run the convention, and the industry guests in attendance.

– Late-Night Viewings! Jackbox Games! Come and while away the evening hours with your charismatic hosts! May contain content only suitable for 18+ – Presented by Graham and Amanda Dunbar

– Interested in becoming a voice-actor or filmmaker? Join Jazz as he shares his journey about turning a passion for acting and film making into a professional career. – Presented by Jazz Walker

Saturday [ME] (11AM-12PM) The Witcher Universe with Doug Cockle

– Celebrate 11 Years of the Witcher with the Voice of Geralt himself, Doug Cockle. The Witcher franchise is ever-expanding, with Gwent and the new Netflix Series in development.

Saturday [P] (11:30AM-1:30PM) Stories from Japan! OR How I Got Lost in Hokkaido

– Come join our cast of travelers and be regaled with stories of their over-planned and hilariously ambitious trip to the Land of the Rising Sun. Better yet: Bring your own stories! This free-discussion panel will also be chock-full of travel tips! – Graham and Amanda Dunbar

Saturday [ME] (12PM-1PM) Lightning Returns to EXP Con with Ali Hillis

– Ali Hillis returns to EXP Con to talk about her roles in games and anime, including Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII.

Saturday [ME] (1PM-2PM) Bryce Papenbrook Talks Anime

– “Sometimes, you have actors who are so busy, they rarely have time to watch the shows they’re in. Other times, you have actors who make an effort to see at least a little bit of the shows they’re in and know as much about their characters as possible in their limited free time. And then, occasionally, you have someone as excited about the shows they’re a part of as Bryce Papenbrook is. Bring your questions and your enthusiasm to this fun discussion about the wonderful world of Japanese animation!”

Saturday [ME] (2PM-3PM) Meet Cherami Leigh!

– Makoto Nijima. Lucy Heartfilia. Sarada Uchiha. A2. Sailor Venus. Asuna. Gaige. No matter what character introduced you to her voice, you’ll love getting to know her as herself. Come hang out and throw all the questions you have regarding her life, her career, and her love of cats.

– Anime is now such a popular media force that it appears all over, TV, movies, sports, even politics and celebrity interviews. Let the Anime World Order podcast show you some of the crazy places that anime has shown up. – Presented by Gerald Rathkolb and Anime World Order

Saturday [P] (3:30PM-4:30PM) Insane Anime You Should Watch Right Now!

– In this season of EXP, we see new and exciting anime that you must watch RIGHT NOW! You want flaming space cops? How about cyborg samurai? Don’t change the channel until you see all of what we have to offer! – Presented by Mellow Mars

Saturday [ME] (4PM-6PM) Autograph Session #2

– Each year at EXP Con we invite members of video game, anime, and other related industries to take part in our weekend-long event. Saturday [P] (5PM-8PM) Japanese Food – Live on Twitch

– Everyone and their uncle knows Twitch is a gaming site, right? Well, nobody told Graham! Come watch him livestream some basic Japanese recipes on stage. No editing, post-production, or ‘TV Magic’ in this cooking show…who knows what will happen? – Presented by Graham and Amanda Dunbar

Saturday [ME] (6:30PM-8PM) Costume Contest

– This contest is designed to showcase the costume creating and modeling abilities of everyone from novices to the experienced designer. Designers create costumes based on characters from video games, anime, manga, or Japanese culture. After the judging takes place the costumes will be on display for the whole convention to see on the Main Events stage in a fashion show-like presentation where the winners will be announced.

Saturday [P] (8PM-9PM) Anime & Politics? Yes, We Can!

– From candidates quoting Pokémon to numerous depictions of the Clintons, Bush, Obama, and Trump, Japanese anime has a strange relation with American politics. We’ll be exploring the oddities that link two very different cultures together. – Presented by Monica Depaul

– Video Game streaming is huge and has quickly become all the rage. It accounts for epic amounts of web traffic and is an integral part of the streaming portal Twitch. No longer just a way to pass the time and show off your first-person shooter prowess, many Streamers are getting to the point of making actual income off of this one time hobby. Shore up with the River City Gamer Squad, Jacksonville’s premier broadcasting team as they go over how to get started streaming. Whether it’s through Facebook, Mixer, You Tube or Twitch. Whether you have an Xbox, PlayStation, PC or Switch. RCGS will be covering useful information as the tech used, gaining followers, and many other general tips. – Presented by River City Gamer Squad

Sunday [P] (1:30PM-3:30PM) Silliness of Crafting: Paper Video Game Creatures

– Choose your Starter!!! Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander are ready for an adventure with you! Children and adults alike will enjoy crafting together some of their all-time favorite video game creatures. Pick from a select few of creature designs and assemble them with the aid of the instructors. Supplies are provided and instructions are simple! All crafted creatures will go home with each attendee upon completion. Fun for all ages and genders. Let’s get silly and have fun together! ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! – Presented by Silliness of Sewing

Sunday [P] (3:30PM-4:30PM) Extra Life

– Learn how to turn your favorite hobby and gaming marathons into a positive tool to impact your local community. Raise funds for sick kids at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (Wolfson Children’s Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville). Play Games – Heal Kids! – Presented by Kyle Schmisek

Industry Panels and Events

Each year at EXP Con we invite members of the video game and anime industry to take part in our weekend-long event. These individuals speak on many interesting topics, participate in Q&A’s, sign autographs, and interact with the fans multiple times throughout the weekend. We will have a schedule of Industry panels posted closer to the event weekend.

Main Events Room

The Main Events Room hosts industry-driven programming, panels, and contests. Industry professionals and fan-favorite voice actors take part in panels, Q&A sessions, and conduct autograph signings for attendees. Concerts occur Friday and Saturday evening by performers who create music related to subject matter.

Panel Rooms

The Panel Rooms host content produced by members of the community and/or industry professionals.  Content includes but is not limited to general events, in-depth discussions, and workshops.

Celebrity Autograph Sessions

Each year at EXP Con we invite members of video game, anime, and other related industries to take part in our weekend-long event. Convention attendees may meet these celebrities and bring one item to be signed free of charge, as long as they have the appropriate single-day pass or weekend pass. Any additional items are subject to individual rates as set by the industry guests. Please note that once the session is over, those still in line will be turned away. There will be 3 of these sessions throughout the weekend! To put yourself in the best position to get all the autographs you are interested in, purchase the Level 99 VIP Pass which grants you access to the Quick Encounter Lane.

EXP Video Game Lounge

The Video Game Lounge is a large area within the convention filled with consoles and games for attendees to play. Casual-play of the newest and oldest games are available all weekend, and special video game tournaments are scheduled throughout, where many of the best travel to compete in their favorite games. Tournaments and Scheduling will be available soon.

EXP Artist Alley

The Artist Alley is set up along the halls of the pre-convene area throughout convention center. This space is allotted for artists of all types to exhibit and sell their works for convention attendees.

EXP Vendors Room

The Vendors Room is a large section of the convention center where genre specific vendors and exhibitors set up to sell their wares or promote their products. Much of what these vendors sell is available exclusively at conventions.

Costume Contest

This contest is designed to showcase the costume creating and modeling abilities of everyone from novices to the experienced designer. Designers create costumes based on characters from video games, anime, manga, or Japanese culture and are pre-judged before the event. Entrants will showcase their work on the Main Events stage in a fashion show-style presentation, where winners will be announced and awarded with Epic Trophies.
