Industry Panels and Events Each year at EXP Con we invite members of the video game and anime industry to take part in our weekend-long event. These individuals speak on many interesting topics, sign free autographs, and interact with the fans multiple times throughout the weekend. We will have a schedule of Industry panels up as soon as the guest list is finalized. To allow for more room in the industry panels, most will take place in a room twice the size of previous years. Others will be in the Main Events room like previous years. Fan Driven Panels and Events We also encourage attendees to submit Fan driven panels to bring together people who enjoy the same things you do for the weekend. Some of the best experiences at a convention come from sharing your love of a certain piece of work or activity with others. To help facilitate this we at EXP Con do our best to create an environment where all different interests pertaining to our event are explored and celebrated. Panelists range from ordinary fans looking to bring together people with similar interest in their topic to seasoned veterans of the convention scene who have honed the craft of panel hosting down to a fine art. Those interested in hosting a panel can find more information here. Video Game Lounge and Tournaments A popular aspect of EXP Con is the signature Video Game Lounge. With our 70+ stations, tournament staging, online live streaming of our tournaments, and our display setup for spectators (HD projector with huge screen), the EXP Con Video Game Lounge is going to be a cathedral of casual and competitive gaming for the entire weekend. We will be teaming up with EVO Tournament season event CEO Gaming to provide you with the best tournament experience possible. Come to compete in our tournaments, watch the competition unfold, or play casually with other convention attendees. Tournament information is available here. Celebrity Autograph Sessions Each year at EXP Con we invite members of the video game and anime industry to take part in our weekend-long event. There will be multiple opportunities to talk to and get autographs from our guests in the main events room. As always at EXP Con the autographs are free of charge, just please know that once the sessions are over they are over and people in line will be turned away. Go in there with a mission and get the signatures you want. To put yourself in the best position to get all the autographs you are interested in, purchase a higher level pass that gives you line hopping abilities. You can find the exact times of the autograph sessions in the schedule. The Con Ends With You DON'T BE SO ZETTA SLOW!!! The Con Ends With You is an interactive game based on the hit Nintendo DS Square-Enix game "The World Ends With You." You must pre-register at Level 50 or above to gain access to this game. Grab a friend or test your luck by making a pact on Saturday because Players will be forced to match wits (in teams of two) with the devious Reapers, and their Noise, in what's known as "The Reaper's Game." Battle Noise and make your way through riddles, as the Reapers do everything in their power to throw you off guard. You, however, aren't thrown into the fray empty handed. Teams will have plenty of chances to earn special Pins that act as both weapon and utilitarian tool. Use them wisely to thwart the Reapers at their own game! Throughout this event players will receive messages that will lead them through 7 main missions and a handful of "extracurricular" activities. Fail to finish the main missions and surely face your erasure... More information regarding the game will become avalable very soon. You can find more details here. Costume Contest This contest is designed to showcase the costume creating and modeling abilities of everyone from novices to the experienced designer. Designers create costumes based on characters from video games, anime, manga, or Japanese culture and are pre-judged before the contest. After the judging takes place the costumes will be on display for the whole convention to see on the Main Events stage in a fashion show-like presentation where the winners will be announced. Winners will take home epic trophies and almost as epic prizes. You can find more information about the costume contest here. EX-Prom Formal Dance Masquerade Soiree Event Don't let the long name confuse you. This is going to be a formal dance like the ones you have or had in high school. The difference is it's going to be filled with people that share common interests which will make it much better. We think. You can expect dancing, live music, decorations, prizes, some finger food, and beverages. Dress up, look sharp, and spend the night with your special someone, or go there just to look snazzy and just hang out. It will be taking place Friday night. There is a $10.00 fee to attend the event that goes towards covering the costs of the event. Purchasers of the Level 50 pass or a higher level don't have to worry about the fee, as it is included with your ticket bundle. It should be nice. Anime Music Video Contest The EXP Con Anime Music Video Contest is an opportunity for everyone, from amateurs to professionals, to showcase their video editing talent! Anime Music Videos or AMV's for short, are videos composed of anime and/or video game footage, set to music, creating a fan made music video. The videos will be screened and trophies and prizes will be presented the weekend of the convention. For contest guidelines and submission information click here. Power of Underground: Dance Party The Power of Underground Dance Party returns this year bigger and better than ever as we will be combining dance music with anime and video game music remixes. This year we will be adding more lights, more sound equipment, and more energy to make this the best late night convention experience ever, maybe. Probably. EXP Con Concert Series: Random Encounter You are walking around EXP Con Saturday night when suddenly... RANDOM ENCOUNTER, a live and diverse musical performance featuring unheard songs and video game music! With a unique setup featuring two guitarists, bass, drums, and an accordion; this 5 piece band offers an original delivery of songs from your favorite classic video games like Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda, in addition to a slew of original music that has not yet been heard by the human ear. Heavily restructured with three new members and completely re-mastered with an entire new set of instruments, Random Encounter is definitely a show worth staying up for. Cosplay Skit Contest The Cosplay Skit Contest is back and ready to give attendees their chance to pretend they are Shakespeare or something. It doesn't have to have anything to do with Shakespeare, we just say that because Shakespeare directed skits and plays and stuff. Grab your friends and entertain the attendees with your performing skills or lack thereof. The winning performances will be awarded by roaring cheers, prizes, and of course awesome trophies. More information about the event will be available here. Miki's Magical Musical Extravaganza! (Singing Competition) Miki's Magical Musical Extravaganza!!! Come compete in EXP Con's very own singing competition that no one could come up with a name for! The top 10 finalists will go head to head in a musical battle for a chance at glory (and a super cool trophy). Come to the Finals in the Main Events room to see dreams come true or maybe shattered! Opening Ceremonies Opening Ceremonies for the convention sets the tone for the entire weekend, so you can expect EXP Con is going to bring our excitement-causing shoes. We will talk about what you can expect from the weekend, introduce our industry guests, and entertain you with our own brand of Opening Ceremonies hype. You are definitely not going to want to miss the beginning of your EXP Con experience, now in full HD 3D. Closing Ceremonies Love is over. Maybe we'll post a better description about what to expect from closing ceremonies later. You could just take what we said about opening ceremonies and expect that along with with the sadness of the convention being over. EXP Podcast Super Live! When most of the attendees have gone home and the hustle and bustle of the event has slowed to a dull roar, we will do a live taping of our staff podcast. It should be fun. It will be fun for us anyways. This would be the perfect time to ask questions and stuff about the convention and the future of all things EXP Con. You could ask questions about us too, but the prospect of that just sounds silly. |
